from 49 reviewsStumbled upon SoySand totally by accident who.e visiting a local cat show in San Diego. The nice people working the booth were super cool and low pressure. I decided to give it a try. Mind you I was an avid fan of another soy based litter.
This new SoySand litter is excellent. It doesn’t really track any more than the other brand I am (was) a fan of. I’ve been interested in automatic litter bot cleaners but really haven’t found one that is up to the task and isn’t noisy. Kitties don’t, typically, like noises like what those other automatic litter boxes produce. The new Litter Robot is amazing and with the new SoySand it’s a perfect combination.
I really like that the Soy based litters are flushable too.
I highly recommend SoySand for anyone looking for a great litter alternative. It’s natural, low to no dust, flushable, and its clumping capability is pretty amazing.
Keep up the good work SoySand!!!
Cat loves it . Flushable af . Smell good
Purchased SOYSAND a few months ago, based on a referral from a friend, and can immediately tell the difference, especially in our Litter Robot! It does stick to the bottom, but will fall off in 1 or 2 cycles, and since it controls odors so well, we dont even notice it! SO much less dust, tracking is minimal but totally acceptable, but biggest plus is that we can flush it! Customer FOR LIFE!
I absolutely love this kitty litter. I use it in my litter robot. It works so well, barely tracks at all. Way less mess than the traditional clay litter. Doesn’t smell, clumps well and my cats don’t mind it at all. 100% recommend if you’re looking for a better alternative to clay litter and works well with the litter robot.
Switched to soysand from clay and absolutely love it. It does an amazing job at odor control without having an overpowering chemical/perfumey smell. It's fast absorbing and works great in my nekasa m1 lite, have never had an issue with smearing or dust forming on the walls of the automatic box. There's some tracking, but it's much less messy than clay and easy to sweep up. Switched to a subscription after my first bag
The litter has good scent and low tracking!
Smell Good
We're definitely in a Golden Age of litter, with walnut shells, pine, pellets, crystals, etc. I was using the pine, then the walnut. The crystals look too chemical. I definitely didn't want to be using clay anymore. I tried this litter because the store was out of walnut, and I'm not going back. I love that it's lightweight, it covers the smells (and I use unscented), and the fact that it's flushable is perfect. Game changer. My cats like it, so I like it. Not going back!
My prior cat, who died of kidney disease in 2023, had been transitioned to soy litter because it helped with the smell and was easy to clean up given how much she was using the box. The cats I adopted later that year refused to use any kind of pellet litter, so I tried out a few natural litters and wasn't impressed with any of the ones that they tolerated. I have been testing out Soysand by mixing it with their current litter (Sustainably Yours) for a month now, and the results are encouraging. It is performing well even when mixed with another material. I use round stainless steel boxes (Less Litter Earth), and scooping is very easy. I messaged Chewy earlier today telling them that I want them to carry this.
Works as advertised and I have no complaints. I have a Neakasa M1 and this litter works great with it. Will continue to use in the future as long as the formula doesn't change (like many other clay litters unfortunately).
Soysand beats them all. Excellent order control and excellent clumping!
Beats other brands that I have tried.
I've only been using a bit now but so far both my cat and I like it. No strong litter smell and very easy clean up.
Great litter. Dust-free, efficient clumping, odor absorbing and much more!
We recently got a LR4 and had to find new litter. Previously, we were using pine litter and were pretty happy with it—pine pellets don't track, don't smell, but the clean-up was time-consuming and not as environmentally friendly (we needed to deep-clean boxes more frequently and used 5-6 puppy pads per week to catch soiled pine dust).
Soy Sand was a great alternative vs. the 2 brands we experimented with in our LR4: Arm & Hammer corn litter (scent was overpowering) and BoxieCat (very fine litter that tracks too much and became sludge/did not clump well when there is too much liquid in one area). We've wanted to try soy litter for awhile, particularly for its sustainability and non-toxic qualities.
Things I love about Soy Sand: packaging (manageable size/weight, nicely air-sealed, carrying handle), scent (even the unscented version carries a light, pleasant smell), larger grain size (less tracking), less dust, compatibility with LR4, sustainability.
Things I don't love but aren't dealbreakers: cost (more expensive than pine litter for sure, but am willing to pay more for the qualities listed above) and lack of availability in brick-and-mortar stores (would love for larger chains to carry this product!).
Anyway, I am excited about this litter and hope it will become more widely available. Thank you for making this product! :-)
We've been using Soysand for several months and couldn't be more pleased. It clumps well, making it easy to clean the litter box. We started with unscented but eventually switched to scented. It's a light scent, not overpowering. When it comes to tracking, our cat still tracks, but we don't think any litter can prevent that. So far Soysand is the best litter we've used!

SOYSAND in moderncat.com
Compared to the other featured litters, SOYSAND is the only one that can work in a self-cleaning litter box (as well as traditional litter box).
Features and Benefits of SOYSAND
Self-Cleaning Litter Box Compatible
Other Tofu litters are pellet shaped, and do not sift well through the grates, or rakes of Self-cleaning Litter Boxes.
SOYSAND’s unique shape is similar to traditional clay litters, which is easy to sift and compatible with Self-cleaning Litter Boxes.
If the litter box works with a clumping litter, it will work with SOYSAND.
99.9% Dust Free
During production SOYSAND is filtered through a 13-lane dust removal system prior to packaging.
Additionally, the increased density of SOYSAND granules means there is less dust created from granules rubbing against each other as it is harder to break than clay, or other eco-friendly litters.
Compared to Clay, SOYSAND produces 99.9% less dust. And any dust left is non-carcinogenic.
Powerful Odor Control
Soy is naturally acidic, with a PH of 6-7, which greatly helps neutralize the ammonia in cat urine, completely eliminating the cat box odor found with other non-soy litters.
Due to it's natural odor controlling powers, SOYSAND doesn't require any additional additives or chemicals to assist with odor control, nor does it need a powerful scent to mask odors.
Scented SOYSAND is made with a very mild essential oil creating a light and pleasant aroma, instead of an overpowering and artificial scent.
Forms Tight Clumps
SOYSAND granules quickly absorb liquids and cling together to create extremely tight clumps.
Clumps will stay together when sifted, which means no more loose pieces falling into the “clean” litter.
This also means that less litter is used to absorb the same amount of liquid, increasing the longevity of your bag, and requiring fewer top-offs, or refills.
Sustainable & Eco-Friendly
SOYSAND is made from the Soy based by-product which comes from making Tofu
It is sustainable, biodegradable, and breaks down completely in water.
In areas where pet waste can be properly sanitized, SOYSAND can be flushed down residential toilets.
Note: Always check your local guidelines regarding flushing pet waste down toilets as some water treatment plants cannot filter out harmful viruses and bacteria found in some cat waste.
Comfortable & Familiar
All other Tofu Litters have a pellet shape which feels like grass or pine needles to cats, which they know they cannot dig into.
SOYSAND is crushed so that it feels like loose sand, which encourages cats to use it for their business.
Testing has shown that even picky cats easily take to the feel of the litter, and quickly adapt without having to transition.
SOYSAND is also safe and easy to use for kittens, as well as older cats.
Safe
Made from food grade materials, occasional ingestion is completely safe. However, if your cat appears to be eating or ingesting SOYSAND on a regular basis, please consult your veterinarian as there may be other underlying health issues involved.
SOYSAND is Gluten-Free!
