SOYSAND Beginnings

Petkinns was founded in 2023 with the idea that Cat Litter could be better.

We spent 4 months reviewing a variety of natural cat litters.  During our testing, we found that Tofu litter performed the best across all functions, except usability.  We found it extremely hard to scoop and frustrated that it would take forever to sift...we also learned that there was a large community cry for a tofu litter that worked in self-cleaning litter boxes...with that, we had our mission!  We found, and worked with a manufacturer in Asia to perfect what we believed to be an improved version of tofu litter.  A crushed grain litter that we now call SOYSAND.

In February 2024, we brought in 1 ton of SOYSAND as a prototype and worked with local shelters like the Stray Cat Alliance, private rescue organizations, pet hospitals and veterinarians to test and get feedback on SOYSAND, and we were right, people and cats really loved it!

In May of 2024, we launched a Kickstarter to help us promote SOYSAND, and successfully raised over 100% of our initial funding goal to bring in a first order of 10 tons.

The 10 ton shipment arrived in Long Beach beginning of July 2024, and since then we have increased our customer base from 63 Kickstarter backers to over 400 users mostly in California, through trade shows, our website, and social media.
